About
Hi, we're Kristen, Josh, and Ava
We've wandered through 33 countries, eaten in strangers' kitchens, and been waved into homes in places most people only see on the evening news. Sea to Somewhere is where we share all of it, so you can go see it too.

Why "Sea to Somewhere"?
Home for us is Squamish, BC, on a stretch of road called the Sea-to-Sky Highway. Leave Vancouver heading north, and the highway hugs the ocean the whole way to Squamish. That's the sea part. Keep going, and the road climbs into the mountains toward Whistler, with glaciers glowing above you. That's the sky.
Every trip we take starts at the sea and ends up… somewhere. A spice market in Tunis. A night market in Bangkok. A frozen hotel in Quebec. A trailhead twenty minutes from our front door. The somewhere is the best part, and it's different every time.
Meet the crew

Kristen has been to 33 countries across North, Central and South America, Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and much of Asia. Her favourite trips are often to the places few people go, like Iran and Syria. Those trips taught her early that many of the scary stories we're told about the world just aren't true. People everywhere are kind, curious, and very eager to feed you.
Josh has been her travel partner since they met 15 years ago. Their first trip together was backpacking through Belize and Guatemala, and he's said yes to every adventure since. He's the easygoing one, happiest when the plan goes out the window and something better turns up.
Ava joined the team as a baby and hit the ground running. Before her second birthday (and the end of free plane tickets), she'd been to Iceland and Peru. She's now been to 10 countries, and she has one rule: she must always have visited at least as many countries as her age. At 10, she's exactly on track, so every birthday comes with a deadline.
Everyone gets a turn
A few years ago we started a family tradition: we take turns choosing where we go next. Whoever's turn it is picks anywhere in the world they're dreaming about.
Kristen went first and chose Thailand. Ava picked the Ice Hotel in Quebec (yes, we slept on a bed made of ice, and yes, it was amazing). Josh went with Japan. Now it's Kristen's turn again, and we're off to Tunisia.
It means everyone gets their dream trip, but our favourite part is watching what it does to Ava. Between trips, she spends her time spinning the globe and making lists of the places she wants to see. A kid who thinks about the whole world is pretty amazing.
Why we made this
Plenty of people want to see the world, but something holds them back. Maybe it's a headline, a worried relative, or just not knowing where to start. We built Sea to Somewhere to give you the stories, tips, and nudge you need to go anyway.
Come see where the road takes us. Then go find your own somewhere.
